The discussion is becoming very OT,but there are some things I don´t understand:What causes the chaotic behaviour? The cuts at the edge?Is there really no lobing with driver spacing so high? How can it be that there is no null at the side of the panel...

David Wilson says about the WAMM:
Atkinson: What range does the electrostatic unit cover?
Wilson: It operates above 5kHz. And it operates at a very low level. It functions primarily to provide part of the leading edge of high-frequency transients....

When the RED has 12dB x-over and the Mocando is all 6dB, then you have addition in the treble and subtraction in the bass ore vice versa. Impulse spikes will always have right polarity, since the RED is 10dB down. If one recorded a track with the RED...
|
I wouldn´t talk about "wrong polarity", rather about "dislike of the resulting harmonic spectrum". Wonder how the result would be with phase-correct FIR filters for the RED....
|
Romy,What happens when you use the injection channel with inverted polarity?...

I listened to $$$ Wavac amps with 833 tube driving Kharma speakers and I found it sounds like the old tube radio in my garden hut at 40°C. Why not more semi-active speakers with high-sensitivity mid/treble and transistor-powered bass? ...

The finest reproduction I have heard was close enough to a real event in sound that with eyes closed you could believe that it was real even though you knew it wasn't. Then a slight imperfection or two intrude to remind...

Copper domes???The Lansche is one of the speakers I would like to hear. Is it sonically useful to cross an ionic tweeter at 1.5kHz?Is it true that a RAAL sounds more like an ionic tweeter than like a ribbon? Here is the CSD of the Supravox:...
|
Or is the answer very simple, in terms that some people just like tweeters with metal character? I have not heard the Supravox, but it has the usual breakup above the audio band, even a bit stronger than other metal domes, CSD from 4kHz up is not slo...

Here is a simulator for wave propagation:http://www.falstad.com/ripple/Choose setup = single slit.Select mouse = edit walls.Broaden the slit.See what happens in the far field if you change the source frequency. The simu is not high quality, but I beli...

I mean for low frequencies that radiate omnidirectionally the wavefront center estimated from the wavefront curving at a point a bit away from the speaker would in fact be the center of the cone. For the more beaming frequencies it would be estimated...

Hello all! Some people call omnidirectional spekers "Hallsoßenwerfer" (reverb sauce throwers), some people even accept price and sensitivity of an MBL 101. While I find the MBL too diffuse, I still find there is something special about a speaker being...

[quote user="Gregm"] It's better than a Marten Supreme because the mid is cut off @500Hz whereas Marten cuts it off at 1,3kHz "where the ear is at its most sensitive". Note: they must be referring to latest technology ears -- not the tradi...

Sure, looking at some moment in the Orgon description I have a lot of suspicion that they use incorrect amplification and incorrectly, and that multi-amping in there was not implemented as it should be but the desi...
